About the President
President of Maison d’Afrique Luxembourg and an engaged figure in Luxembourg civil society.
David Foka is an emerging figure in the Luxembourg political landscape, known for his commitment to diversity, citizen participation, and Europe–Africa dialogue. A teacher by training and of Cameroonian origin, he settled in Luxembourg after a stay in Germany, where he was active within the SPD. His path reflects a coherent trajectory: defending an inclusive, open, and participatory society.
Founder of the Zesummen movement, then initiator of the merger with the d’Bréck association, he created the Zesummen – d’Bréck party in 2024, presented as a bridge between citizens and institutions. Through this unprecedented political project, David Foka carries a strong vision: building a civic, plural Luxembourg nation that is representative of all its communities. He was the party’s lead candidate in the 2024 European elections, advocating for a more inclusive Europe and broader participation of foreign residents.
Alongside his political commitment, David Foka chairs Maison d’Afrique Luxembourg, a platform for cultural and civic cooperation dedicated to the promotion of African diasporas and the strengthening of Europe–Africa ties. His associative work helps structure a space for dialogue, training, and intercultural mediation at the heart of the Grand Duchy. Recognized for his discourse on diversity, good governance, and citizen participation, David Foka stands out as a singular voice in the Luxembourg public debate. His path illustrates the emergence of political actors from the diaspora, able to renew perspectives and carry societal issues that are often underrepresented.

At the New Year's reception, I had a discussion with the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden. We talked, among other things, about the state of the nation for 2026 and government policy, which will focus on social cohesion, purchasing power and support for families, with measures including tax relief for families and partial coverage of electricity costs. For most households, the impact will be broadly positive.

Institutional meeting illustrating Maison d’Afrique Luxembourg’s commitment to dialogue, social cohesion, and civic participation.
Faced with the climate crisis and the decline of biodiversity, we must take concrete action and reform our financial sector! We call for ambitious political action to finally regulate banks and companies so that they stop financing the destruction of nature. These companies must contribute according to the “polluter pays” principle included in our program for Europe. This is essential for climate stability, a sustainable economy, our well-being, and life itself. Let a new wind blow across Europe. Together, we can build a fairer world, a Europe of peace, a united and equitable Europe of colors, a Europe of citizens in all its diversity, and Afro-European solidarity based on citizens.
Let’s make it happenBeing African is not only about belonging to a continent. It means carrying within oneself a creative force, an energy that turns obstacles into stepping stones. It means finding a solution where no one had thought of one.
On our lands, where some see only challenges, we see opportunities. Where others see limits, we see horizons. We have learned to build with little, to invent with nothing, and to dream with everything.
Look around you: our young people turn phones into banks and ideas into businesses. Our communities recycle, innovate, share, and build a sustainable future. Our artists, thinkers, and inventors bring the world colors, rhythms, and original solutions.
Being African means refusing fatalism. It means believing that every problem hides an invention. It means knowing that our collective genius can enlighten the world. So let us lift our heads. Let us be proud of this identity, which is not a constraint but a strength.
Let us be the architects of a future where Africa is not merely a spectator, but a leading actor. Because yes, being African means inventing the impossible. And today, more than ever, the world needs our impossible.
